dc.description.abstract | Background: Nursing care for patients is one of the most important factors in the healing process, and when saying the term “Nursing Care”, one’s mind shouldn’t only think of the health-care procedures to cure the physical illness, and exclude the psychological and emotional aspects of the patient. Improving nursing caring is a key factor to increase patients’ satisfaction as found in the literature.Purpose: The purpose of the study is to examine the emergency nurses’ caring attitudes and behaviors during interactions with patients at emergency departments in Palestine. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study composed of 187 nurses from emergency departments of governmental hospitals in the West Bank participated in the study. Self administered questionnaire was used for purpose of collecting data. Results: The analysis revealed that CNPI was high 3.95 ± 0.13. Also, the results showed that expression of emotion was the highest subscale 4.01± 0.33 while needs was the lowest subscale 3.91± 0.29.A Tukey post hoc test showed that the nurses in north hospital nurses was more Expression of Emotions subscale statistically significantly than nurses in middle and south area hospitals at (p = 0.016, 0.048) respectively. Conclusion: The study conclude that ED nurses had high level of nursing caring. In general, the study results showed no correlation between nursing caring and the four factors studied (age, level of education, experience and hospital location). | en_US |
