Abstract: | This study aimed to investigate the impact of emotional intelligence on job performance among municipal employees in the Municipal Jenin Area, Palestine, while exploring the mediating role of job satisfaction in this relationship. Using a quantitative research methodology, the study surveyed a stratified random sample of (262) employees from a population of (821), employing advanced statistical analysis tools (Smart PLS4 and SPSS) for data evaluation. The results revealed that emotional intelligence had a mean score of (3.47), job performance a mean of (3.43), and job satisfaction a mean of (3.15). Emotional intelligence significantly and positively influenced job performance, with social awareness being the only dimension with a direct effect. However, self awareness and social skills positively impacted job satisfaction, which, in turn, mediated their influence on job performance. Conversely, self-motivation showed no significant effect on either job satisfaction or performance. Job satisfaction emerged as a partial mediator, underscoring its critical role in translating emotional intelligence into improved performance. Based on the findings, the study recommends conducting regular training programs to develop emotional intelligence, focusing on self-awareness, social skills, and social awareness. Organizations are encouraged to enhance job satisfaction by addressing fair compensation, career advancement, and supportive work environments while integrating emotional intelligence assessments into recruitment and development processes. Promoting teamwork through workshops and activities, establishing effective feedback mechanisms, and fostering a positive organizational culture are also recommended to indirectly boost performance through improved satisfaction and emotional engagement |
