Translation is a communication tool between people from different countries. Translation transfers ideas between cultures through modifying languages from source language to target language. The translator is a vital element in the whole process of translation. This study aims to examine to what extent the translator’s ideology can affect the process of translation through the perspective of a translator's work in different fields throughout the West Bank region. To answer the question of the study, the translator conducted five focused interviews with official Palestinian translators who are experts and work in the field of translation in Palestine. Additionally, questionnaires were distributed to 40 translators who work in different fields of translation, and who have multiple years of practical experience (between 3 to 20 years of experience). The study found out that a professional translator is the one who can convey the original meaning of the text with original cultural references; the translator should be credible, and tolerant when translating from the original meaning of the source text and source culture. The study recommends that translators not only translate for the sake of translation, but to demonstrate a sound understanding of the source culture and target audience, including the text and subject matter. The study also suggests that universities develop specialised fields of study in translation such as the translation of; political, medical, business and economic texts, and the like thereof.en_US
