| Abstract: | Globalization is dominated by the Western neoliberal system. This domination has significant impact on the form of the global economy as this system facilitated the acceleration of the capital accumulation, concentrating the wealth in the hands of the few and increasing the gap between the rich and the poor. Accordingly, the financial assistance model adopted by the neoliberal multilateral banks proved in many cases to have harmful impacts on the most marginalized groups in developing countries. As a result, an alternative globalization movement has emerged calling for more global justice and equality. At the same time, the world order and its power dynamics is changing by the rise of new powerful countries particularly the member countries of the BRICS led by China. This research analyzes the alternative financial assistance model used by China, to explore if this model is more effective in terms of creating an alternative globalization. The research concludes that although the Chinees model has some challenges, but it indeed takes a step toward achieving some of the alternative globalization demands. Most importantly it ends the monopoly of the neoliberal banks, giving more bargaining power to developing countries when seeking financial assistance and creating a motive for all multilateral banks to improve their practices |
