This research explores diglossia in spoken Arabic with regard to origin, characteristics, and its problems. Furthermore, it provides solutions to this phenomenon. One main solution is the use of what is called middle standard arabic that is used in modern media. The researcher contends that the use of middle standard Arabic, if used properly, will minimize the danger of vernacular use. Middle standard Arabic can evolve, develop and circulate via media.
